Software studio · Oracle APEX specialism
Oracle APEX, done properly.
Custom development, training and consultancy for organisations running Oracle APEX (opens in new tab) ↗, backed by more than 20 years of hands-on experience.
What we do
Three ways we can help.
Engage on one, two or all three.
01 · Training
Training
Cohort workshops and one-to-one mentoring. APEX fundamentals through advanced architecture, tailored to where your team is today, not a stock curriculum someone shipped in 2019.
- Cohort workshops
- 1-on-1 mentoring
- Bespoke in-house
02 · Custom Dev
Custom Development
End-to-end APEX builds delivered by one practitioner. Greenfield projects, rescue work on stalled ones, and bolt-on features for existing applications. Your project never gets handed off.
- Greenfield builds
- Rescue engagements
- Integrations & APIs
03 · Consultancy
Consultancy
Security reviews, performance tuning, upgrade planning, troubleshooting, second opinions. The work you call in when your team needs an external set of expert eyes.
- Security audits
- Performance tuning
- APEX upgrades
The studio
Built on expertise.
ETCH Labs is run by John Scott. After 20+ years working with Oracle APEX as a consultant, author and conference speaker, I started ETCH Labs to take on engagements where deep practitioner experience shapes the outcome.
The studio is small by design. You work directly with the person doing the work, on a small number of engagements at a time, and on top of the same skills that built and ship get-etch.app (opens in new tab) ↗.

We ship our own products too.
We built ETCH from 20+ years of APEX practice. APEX plugins generate DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, Markdown and PDF documents directly from any data in your APEX applications. Native clients for Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and a REST API cover everything else.
